McAfee Leverages Lyris ListManager
Lyris ListManager Email Marketing
Software Leveraged by McAfee for Communication with
Its Global Consumer Subscriber Base
Lyris Technologies, Inc. announced today that McAfee,
Inc., the leading provider of intrusion prevention
solutions, uses Lyris ListManager email marketing software
for its email marketing campaigns aimed at consumers
in the European and Japanese markets.
McAfee uses the software to send its customers virus
alert email, special offers, product promotions and
information about subscribers' accounts. The company
chose ListManager because of the software's ability
to handle Japanese double-byte characters and because
it preferred a fast, highly scalable in-house solution
that its internal worldwide marketing teams could easily
learn to use.
ListManager software has also helped to fortify McAfee's
regional customer retention efforts. McAfee's e-commerce
department targets two types of recipient for its retention
email campaigns: trial users whose product evaluation
periods are nearing completion, and paid users whose
subscriptions are up for renewal. The ListManager software
has helped McAfee to communicate regularly with its
customers about the status of these subscriptions and
subsequently, the company has achieved a very high retention
rate of its current subscriber base.

services are not allowed to lapse, leaving users without
protection against viruses and other threats that can
result in the loss of important data or even identity

McAfee. "Therefore, it's critical that we communicate
regularly with our customers about their subscriptions
and help them to ensure continuous protection. Lyris

function enable us to easily do that."
ListManager is an integral part of McAfee's regular
email communication to its customer base, consisting
of several million subscribers to McAfee VirusScan(R),
McAfee(R) Personal Firewall Plus, McAfee SpamKiller(R)
and McAfee(R) Privacy Service -- some of the most popular
anti-virus and Internet security solutions available.
McAfee collects opted-in addresses when its customers
register online and the company strives to exceed industry
standard best practices for permission emailing. Its
ListManager license sends email at a rate of 300,000
unique messages per hour, and includes professional
marketing features for demographic targeting and campaign
results tracking.
