At Lyris, we strongly recommend and practice permission-based email contact as a sound business model. We require all of our ListHosting clients to use opt-in lists of customers and Web site visitors, as these typically generate the best results. Learn more about opt-in.
Our policy is also consistent with Federal anti-spam legislation (the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003).
What's Allowed
The ListHosting Service Agreement (pdf) allows you run email lists comprised of people with whom you have an established relationship people who have given you permission to contact them via email.
We configure our hosted lists to "confirm" all new members who sign up for your list, in order to maintain clean databases and prevent unwanted blacklisting. Since ListManager sends confirmation requests immediately, our confirm rates are among the highest in the industry.
If you have a previously established email list that meets certain conditions, we may substitute "reconfirming" your members with a "welcome message." For example, lists of your own customers, lists verifiably built with an opt-in policy, or a reference check with your previous service provider may qualify you for this process.
What's Not Allowed
Lyris ListHosting may not be used to send unsolicited bulk email (spam), whether commercial or non-commercial. This means that we do not host lists comprised of harvested names, or names you have purchased from other sources. As described above, you must use a list that you built and own exclusively.
How to Report Abuse
If you believe that Lyris ListHosting is being used for activities contrary to our usage policy, please submit an abuse report.
